My Final Acorn.
I had to add an oval acrylic piece to my design to cover the visible gaps. This was caused by drilling too far down through the material. In hindsight I should have cut excess material off first to avoid this.
However, I didn't cut the excess material off until the very last stages as it allowed me more stability on some of the machines.
The whole at the top could not be cut on the CNC router, so I had to hand drill this. First i drilled at an angle to give me more grip and a better visual reference, then down at the correct angle, using a 2mm drill bit.
I sanded the edges briefly but ran out of time to finish the product off properly.
Just before deadline I discovered that the whole was not big enough, so I couldn't piece all the pieces together correctly.
My intention with regards to packaging was always to replicate the Jewellery Box element. I like the idea of corrugated cardboard for a natural effect which worked well in this instance.
The pink tissue paper was to give it something striking to bounce off. The colours (the pinks, browns and the initial silver worked very well together. Giving a professional fun striking look.
